“Food Cardboard” is the multi-layer cardboard used in soup boxes, oat milk boxes, etc. It has a smooth inner layer that can be scratched, peeled, or otherwise altered to create dents. Ink is pressed into the dents and the excess is wiped off the smooth surface. This “plate” is then squeezed against dampened paper to transfer the print. I use a manual pasta machine because it has enough compression power to make a very nice little home printing press!
