Skill Improvement
Sometimes the hardest part of a course is the class you took the year before - and forgot. Or perhaps you had mono the week the class did factoring. Perhaps you want to improve your arithmetic and mental math. I am available for "spot work" to clear up problem areas, such as:
Mental Math
Fractions, Decimals, Percents
Equation Solving
Lines and Graphs
Factoring and FOIL
Derivatives
Homeschoolers
Have a Resource/Recourse When Questions Arise! Whatever text you are working with, I am available to explain material and suggest supplements if you want them, or just answer questions you bring. I work during the day as well as afternoons and evenings.
Fun and Personal Enrichment
Come play with math! In addition to skill building, I am available if you want to PLAY with math. We can work through a chapter on fair division problems to learn some ways to divide a cake, or a chapter on voting systems. Spend a couple sessions drawing and exploring fractals, or play with Mobius strips. Try your hand at back-of-the-envelope Fermi problems (About how much ice cream does New England eat in a year?). What are you interested in?
Learning that one CAN do math is almost as important as learning HOW TO do math.
