Philosophy
I chose to be a tutor because I believe that
personalized individual math instruction gives the tutor
a chance to "see” a student's thought processes about
mathematics and respond accordingly. This means that I
can then:
- Present new ways to look at topics
- Find and fill conceptual holes from prior math courses
- Correct misconceptions
- Discuss ways to improve study and test-taking practices
- Increase confidence.
For students with learning disabilities or ADD,
one-on-one tutoring can give focus to the student and
opportunity to for adaptation by the tutor. I encourage
my students to know how they best learn, and I use as
many ways to teach as I can, including discussion,
visual aids and manipulatives.
Learning that one CAN do math is almost as important as
learning HOW TO do math. Although my first goal is that
students are able to understand enough mathematics to
meet their goals, I also work to foster an appreciation
for math and the confidence to pursue problem-solving in
the world around them.
Whether you are a parent, student, or just someone who
wants to know a little more math, I'm available to help.

Region/Range
I serve clients over much of the North Shore area.
Meeting locations are usually restricted to the region
delineated by Burlington to Peabody on 128/95 and
Wilmington to Winchester on 93. Depending on your exact
location and scheduling issues, I can sometimes go
beyond that range.
A Typical Session
A typical session is one hour a week at a regularly
scheduled time in the morning, day, or evening. Sessions
are held at a location convenient to both parties, often
a local library. Longer, more frequent, as-needed, or
one-time-only sessions are also available. I am
available year round.
Payment Options
Cash and check accepted. Veterans: I have worked under
contract with the VBA to tutor veterans. FOR MORE
INFORMATION or to talk about scheduling,
